The timeline is, so to speak, your cockpit for your daily work with Xpert-Timer. It offers a wide range of display options so that you can constantly monitor the progress of your project while you work.

The timeline provides you with the following information:

1.End workday (All of Xpert-Timer's closing functions are called up here. Time stamp check, data backup, etc. The program is not closed.)

2.Start/pause/stop project

3.Quick start allows you to start measuring time immediately without first selecting a customer or project.

4.Back to last project: Click here to see a list of recently used projects and tasks. If a project has not been used for more than 7 days, it will no longer be displayed in this list.

5.Projects with quick access: If you have assigned quick access to projects, you can view the list here.

6.Favorites: Here you can see the projects that you have assigned to your favorites list.

7.Open project manager: Jump directly to the project manager from here.

8.Customer management: Here you can enter customers and contacts, search for them, and view individual customer transactions.

9.Task management:Here you will find a list of your created tasks.

10.Using the evaluation function, you can total and group the recorded times and view profit/loss calculations.

11.Quick search: Click here to search for a project or use the keyboard shortcut combination + space bar set under Configuration.

12.Send email report: Here you can conveniently send the status of your project by email.

13.Create new project

14.Create new task

15.Add timestamp

16.Edit timestamp

17.Open tasks for active project

18.Documents for active project

19.Name of your current project and context menu with the associated subprojects.

20.Project progress: How far you think your project has progressed so far.

21.Time used: What percentage of your originally estimated time you have already used.

22.Remaining time: The remaining time of your time estimate in hours and minutes (as a countdown).

23.Time: The time already recorded on your current project. If you move the cursor over this button, you can display various totals for this project.

24.Costs: What costs have been incurred so far by working on this project (costs)

25.Working hours: Your working hours for today

If you right-click on the buttons on the timeline, you will see a context menu where you can decide which buttons you want to display and which you don't.

You can also change the font size or button size and the display of your timeline in the configuration.

Use of a touch screen

If you are using Xpert-Timer with a touch screen, we recommend setting the button size to "Large." This allows you to easily start and stop projects with your finger.

When you start Xpert-Timer for the first time, you will initially see the following display in the timeline:

As soon as you activate a project, the time starts running:

The time displayed (0:00) is hours:minutes. Xpert-Timer does not record seconds.

Right-clicking on the minutes display brings up the following menu:

The session total shows how many minutes ago you started your project.

The daily total shows how much time you have already booked on projects today.

The subproject total shows the total time of the current subproject.

The total project total includes the sum of the times for all subprojects of a main project.

The Current Task option allows you to display the currently stopped time for a task.

Right-clicking on the daily total time opens another menu:

Here you can create a supplement, edit an active timestamp, or split it.

Start project retroactively

Have you activated the "Start projects retroactively with Ctrl" option in the configuration and forgotten to switch to another project? Then hold down the Ctrl key and select a new project. You will then be asked at what time this project should be started. The "old" project will then be ended at this time and the "new" project will be started from the specified time.

In the Project Manager, you can show or hide the timeline using the "Timeline" button. There is also the option to hide the timeline automatically if you have not started a project. Please note that you can then open the Project Manager using the clock icon in your taskbar or Windows+F7. (With Windows 10, you may have set up different keyboard shortcuts).
