Step-by-step setup

You must complete the following steps to successfully install synchronization with a laptop:

 

1. Install a single-user version of Xpert-Timer (full installation with MS Access database) on the laptop.

-- The laptop must have its own local database to store the recorded data.

 

2. Start Xpert-Timer on the computer connected to the central database.

-- The synchronization file is created with the Xpert-Timer that you use to connect to the main database.

 

3. Activate the synchronization module in the configuration of Xpert-Timer connected to the main database.

-- First, check whether you have activated the "Synchronization" add-on module in the configuration.

 

4. Employee management -> Double-click on the employee -> Additional modules -> Create the synchronization file for the specific user by checking the box "Activate data synchronization for employees."

-- Here you create the synchronization file for the corresponding employee. You now need this synchronization file on your laptop.

 

5. Save the synchronization file on the laptop in the Xpert-Timer installation folder.

-- This synchronization file contains all the information the laptop needs to exchange data over the network. Save the file in the program directory where your xperttimer.exe file is located on the laptop.

 

6. Start Xpert-Timer on the laptop -> The synchronization file is recognized.

-- The next time Xpert-Timer is started, this synchronization file will be recognized and activated. The current database will be completely deleted and refilled with the first synchronization. The license data will also be pulled from the main database.

 

7. Synchronize under the menu item Program -> Perform synchronization.

-- From now on, a new menu item will also be available in the Project Manager. In the Program menu, you now have the option to synchronize the database as soon as you are back on the company network with your computer.

 

8. Deleting the activation file

-- The activation file is no longer needed. Please delete it from your program directory to avoid reactivation.
