Update to latest version

When updating to a new program version with a change in the main version number (e.g., from 9 to 10), please proceed as follows.

These instructions apply to the Xpert-Timer Pro version and XTAze - Time Tracking.

Multi-user version: Alternatively, you can use the XTUpdater via the XTAdmin program to install the new version on the server and on the network drive. Details can be found in the chapter XTAdmin software update->XTUpdater

1. Enter your new license for version 10 in the license overview -> menu item "File" -> Update license online. If you do not see this menu item, please contact support (service@xperttimer.de).

2. Create a backup of your database. You can find the path for a database file or the server if you are using a MySQL or MS-SQL database in your project manager under the menu item "Help" -> About Xpert-Timer System Info, in the Database section.

3. Now download the latest version of Xpert-Timer for your product variant (Basic, Pro) from the "Download" section of the website. If you only work with time tracking, please use the download for Xpert-Timer Pro. The trial version also includes the full version for the update.

Your browser may block the file. However, you can trust it in any case.

Click here on the unverified download and then select "Download unverified file."

 

4. For multi-users with MS-SQL database: If you have an MS-SQL database connected to your system, make sure that you own the DBO schema on the server with the Windows user you are using to perform the update. The logged-in user of the MS-SQL server is used when creating the new database tables. You can also perform the update on the server using the XTAdmin program. Use the system administrator's access data for the MS-SQL database or the xtupdate user provided by us. If the tables are still created with the wrong schema, you can change this later.

5. For all other database formats: Follow the instructions of the installation agent and install in the existing path where your outdated version of Xpert-Timer is currently located. For single users, this is usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Xpert-Timer. For the multi-user version, a network drive is most commonly used.

Xpert-Timer must recognize that this is a program update. You should therefore see this dialog box:

 

 

ATTENTION: If Xpert-Timer does not recognize that this is an update, go back one step and check the path to your existing, old xperttimer.exe. If the update is not recognized, do not continue with the installation. If you do not see the update despite having the correct installation path, please contact our support team at service@xperttimer.de

6. After the installation agent has finished and the program has started, you will be asked if you want to adjust the database structure to patch level 94. You must confirm with "Yes" here so that the new version works smoothly. If you receive any errors, please take a screenshot and contact support.

7. Xpert-Timer should now start automatically and you can use the program as usual.

 

If you use XTWeb—the private cloud for recording project times via your browser

You must also update your interface to the browser interface (XTCloudserver). To do this, please download the latest version of XTCloudserver here: https://download.xperttimer.de/XTInstWeb.exe

Install the software in your existing XTWeb directory. The new license, which you have already imported via XTPro, will be recognized automatically.  

 

If you use synchronization with Android or Windows synchronization via XTSyncServer

You must also update your XTSyncServer to the latest version. To do this, download this installation wizard and install it in your existing XTSyncServer directory:

In the process, you will also need to update your mobile app from the Google Play Store.

And last but not least, equip all Windows synchronization clients with the latest XTPro version. https://download.xperttimer.de/XTInstDE.exe
